Big F'N Swigg - August 17, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
Raven vs. Rhino for the NWA Heavyweight Title.

MARK OUT!!!

dynamite kido - August 17, 2005 02:50 AM (GMT)
Also, they've announced Daniels vs. Joe for the X-title. It looks on it's way to be another good one.

Big F'N Swigg - August 18, 2005 07:25 PM (GMT)
Raven vs. Rhino for the NWA Title

Joe vs. AJ vs. Daniels for the X Division Belt.

Possibly Jarrett vs. Jeff Hardy

not too bad.

D.A.V.E. - August 18, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
Hardy's against Bobby Rude?

Big F'N Swigg - August 18, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
That's what PWI is reporting

dynamite kido - August 18, 2005 09:54 PM (GMT)
Well.........that makes zero sense.

QUOTE (dynamite kido @ Aug 18 2005, 03:54 PM)
Well.........that makes zero sense.

It's "Bobby Roode" booking. They randomly make up matches to fit him in the card.

D.A.V.E. - August 19, 2005 11:08 PM (GMT)
Ever notice how Team Canada just get shoehorned onto the PPV's, with whole angles being created even if it doesnt make sense. (The AMW/Naturals team-up being a prime example)

I mean, D'Amore's booking is LIGHT YEARS ahead of everything that came before it, but it's HUGELY convineint that, for example, the first D'Amore booked PPV had Daniels vs. Petey Williams for the X Belt

Big F'N Swigg - August 20, 2005 12:03 AM (GMT)
I've noticed. I don't know if it's Team Canada, or just the non-major matches

TehDoct0r - September 7, 2005 08:39 PM (GMT)
It certainly seems like Roode gets a match for no reason every month. Although I can't say I dislike him too much. Certainly better than Eric Young and A1 or whatever. I pine for the days when Team Canada was Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, Petey Williams, and Johnny Devine. Say what you want about Teddy, that lineup was STELLAR.

Big F'N Swigg - September 7, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
I think it would benefit them to have a hated heel join Team Canada with the slogan "American By Birth, Canadian By Choice"

Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
Too bad that foursome of Teddy/Evans/Petey/Devine was only around for the Americas-X Cup or whatever it was called. It most definitely is a much-much-much-much more talented foursome, but I'm impartial to either team. Team Canada V1 looked very second rate with a combined $2 wardrobe, but this version sucks in the ring.

TehDoct0r - September 7, 2005 11:06 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't say they're entirely worthless. Petey is consistently good and I actually quite like Roode, but Young and A1 do very little for me. And amen about the wardrobe thing. I'm not usually nitpicky about that, but Teddy Hart had quite possibly the worst ringwear ever.

Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
Don't forget Evans trailer park outfit of a wife beater and shitty pants.

TehDoct0r - September 7, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
Well Evans still rocks the beater, but the pants he wore on that PPV were actually a pair of Teddy's. I've seen Teddy wear those at both CZW and JAPW events. But the beater and swishy pants and rag work for Jack in his "wigger" persona. But as a memeber of Team Canada, I certainly didn't think it was too appropriate.

Scrooge McSuck - September 7, 2005 11:17 PM (GMT)
For a Hart, Teddy does everything possible to annoy me. Spotty selling, horrible attitude, and even more horrible wardrobe. :(

TehDoct0r - September 8, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
Yea. I wish he really wasn't such a dick, because when he wants to, he really can do some amazing stuff. His selling was never top notch, but I'm a firm believer in there being more to psychology than body part selling, and Teddy has shown flashes of brilliance in that aspect. Not consistent tho.

Scrooge McSuck - September 9, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
Matches I heard were added to the PPV...

The Alpha Male Monty Brown and Kip James vs. Apolo and Lance Hoyt
This match is going to suck, and suck hard. Brown? Kinda sucks. Outlaw/James/Gunn? Sucks more. Apolo? Probably the worst wrestler in TNA. Hoyt? Carriable.

The 3Live Kru (James/Konnan/Killings) vs. The Diamonds In The Rough (Diamond/Skipper/Young)
50% of these guys suck or are washed up. The other 50% are very good (Killings) and good enough to cover up 1 guys horrible work (Skipper, Diamond).

Other rumored matches are Petey Williams v. Chris Sabin and Roderick Strong v. Austin Aries, but I heard elsewhere it's Williams/Aries and no mention of Strong or Sabin. I thought logically Sabin/Shocker makes sense considering the post-match siutation on Impact tonight.

TehDoct0r - September 9, 2005 04:42 AM (GMT)
Strong/Aries would rock all sorts of socks. As would Sabin/Petey. They should definetly pull that one out.

Big F'N Swigg - September 10, 2005 12:32 AM (GMT)

Showcase Match: Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong

Card update: TNA Wrestling was set to announce Shocker vs. Chris Sabin for Sunday's Pay-Per-View, but due to travel issues in Mexico, Shocker will be unable to appear. As a result, TNA management has replaced Petey Williams vs. Austin Aries to Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin, with Aries moving into a "Showcase Match" against fellow independent star Roderick Strong as the two young stars show off their talent as we head to SpikeTV on October 1.

Real F'n Show - September 11, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
Should be a good time. My friends liked Aries last month, and now they get to see Strong for the first time. Back breaking goodness.

Scrooge McSuck - September 12, 2005 05:21 AM (GMT)
I demand some reviewing later...

The show sounds good judging from others opinions... and what the fuck is with Waltman? Unless it's some brilliant part of the storyline, there's no reason for him to not show up.

Simon Diamond/David Young/Elix Skipper vs. 3LK

-Not a bad match considering it was short.  Basically it was just a reason to put over 3LK and get the crowd going for the show.  I think the actual match was only about 5 minutes.  Nothing special as Konnan hit his shoe throwing spots and Elix got in a few moves as well.

Winners - 3LK
Rating - *

Roderick Strong vs. Austin Aries

-This was one of the matches that I was most excited about when I was reading the card.  I was very happy that this was a last second add on match for sure.  Both guys have looked great recently in ROH and Aries looked good last PPV in his match against Daniels.  The crowd was in the favor or Aries, but it's safe to say that Roderick may won some of them over during the course of the match.  It was a different style match that I expected from them especially with doing some decent groundwork to start.  Good overall, although a little short...........about 7 minutes to be exact.  Aries pulled out the 450 for the win....

Winner - Austin Aries
Rating - **1/2

Monty Brown/Kip James vs. Apollo/Lance Hoyt

-Nothing special here, but also nothing too bad.  They kept it fairly short and it didn't have a chance to stink up the ring.  Hoyt did well again, Monty Brown seems to be moving towards the main event scene again, and James and Apolo seem to be their usual terrible selves.

Winners - Monty Brown/Kip James
Rating - *1/4

Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin

-As expected this was another good match from these two.  They went back and forth and it would seem that this match was going to be instrumental in who is next up for a X-title shot.  Quick action from both of them and it was a fairly decent matchup.  It was given the time it needed and really was a good match.

Winner - Sabin
Rating - ***1/4

Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Hardy

-This is exactly what you'd expect here.  This match was given entirely too much time and of course had to end with Hardy losing due to interference.  I actually like Roode and you could see that he was trying in this match, but Jeff is just fucking terrible.  Not to mention that they trying to rekindle the Jeff Hardy/Jeff Jarrett match is another terrible idea.  I have no clue why they would try and do it again aside from the fact that they MAY be under the impression that these two are going to give some "name recognition" to TNA when they go to Spike........because they'd be wrong in thinking that ANYONE would give a shit about either of them anymore.  Anyway the one bright spot about this match was at least (even though through interference) they had Roode get the win.  It'll be interesting to see if/what they have in store for Roode with Bound for Glory coming up as well.  You would assume that it would be something fairly important otherwise there's no point to have him go over on Hardy as well.

Winner - Roode
Rating - **

Sabu vs. Abyss

-This match I wasn't so much looking forward to.  Abyss has been on quite  a good streak of good matches on PPV lately and Sabu has seriously looked like he's in better shape than ever.  This match actually was changed to a No DQ match as the PPV started and obviously that was just to get some weapons involved in this one.  Sabu went nuts in this one and did take a few bumps that had me and my friends shaking out head.  Not that they were horribly botched or anything, but they guy busts his ass and takes some of the craziest shit considering that a year ago he was near death.  Abyss continued to work hard and made this one salvagable.  There was some cool stuff like Sabu taking a belly to belly suplex from the ring to the floor through a table and getting the black hole slam on some thumbtacks just in time for Abyss to get the victory....

Winner - Abyss
Rating - **3/4

Waltman/Shelley vs. AMW vs. The Naturals vs. Team Canada

-Well, I was really looking forward to this one.  I've enjoyed the majority of tag team matches that TNA tends to do on PPV over the last year.  Also, it was cool because since they tend to do many regular tag matches, it was cool to see them switch it up and do a four way.  Plus, not getting to see impact every week I actually was interested in seeing what Waltman/Shelley had as a team.  I would be dissappointed.  Apparently for whatever reason (they never really explained) Waltman wasn't there so Shelley of course had to go into the match by himself.  Damn, I fucking hate when this is done in wrestling.  You mean to tell me that there wasn't another guy on the roster who could have taken his place?  Well, actually in the match the Candido family (I have no idea if they were legit or not) in which his brother Johnny Candido (Who I believe has wrestled on several indy's before and actually resembles Shannon Moore quite a bit) came in a got low blowed and pinned to eliminate Shelley? WTF?  Anyway, there was still AMW in there who would succomb to the cheating nature of Team Canada.  That left The Naturals to defend their titles against our friends from the North.  Also, one thing was very apparent during this match.  Apparently A-1 goes out drinking with the front row crew (Lance Hoyt anyone?) considering that he may have been the most over guy in the ring in this match.............................and he's terrible.  Although I doubt it..........I really hope they are going to bring Johnny Devine back after his injuries are all healed.  Not a bad match with The Naturals going over after hitting their move on Eric Young.

Winners - The Naturals
Rating - **

Raven vs. Rhino

-Well, color me surprised that this wasn't the main event.  Cool.  I'm glad they went with this first because mainly it was announced as Raven's rules for this match.  Which usually translates to two guys using too many weapons and throwing all conventional wrestling knowledge out the window.  That's ok though, sometimes I get in the mood for some garbage wrestling.  Just as long as it isn't too bad.......and it wasn't in this match.  At one point I though they were going to set up a spot that they did in what is considered by many to be the greatest hardcore match in WWE history when Raven brought out a shopping cart.  They didn't have Rhino gore him through it like I expected but they used just about every weapon in the cart to begin with.  Rhino bled well and they did some decent stuff, but the match was lacking a little bit and it showed.  Not bad overall though with Raven keeping the belt after some interference....

Winner - Raven
Rating - ***

Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels

-Well, this started off on the right foot as TNA made the right decision to make this the main event.  The crowd was buzzing before anyone even got to the ring and it was clear this was the match everyone was waiting to see all night.  They made mention that Daniels was the longest reighning X-Division champion in the companies history (A little over 6 months) and they built AJ up like the star of the company.  Joe was meant to be the undefeated ass kicker and it all worked great.  They started the match with AJ/Joe doing the competitve kick sequence where both guys attempt to demonstrate who can kick Daniels in the back harder.  Then they both started arguing and they started in on each other trading chops, kicks, and forearms.  Daniels was his usual self and did a good job going back and forth with AJ and Joe in this match.  He pulled out a flying knee into the corner on Joe at one point and this match panned out exactly how you may expect.  I was surprised that they didn't put the title on Joe at this point as it seemed that they were setting him up to be the next champ.  Instead they had AJ win the title when he pinned Daniels to be the next X-Division champion.  Apparently they were really high on Joe/AJ the last time it happened so I'm guessing they are going to do a rematch of that match at Bound for Glory while Daniels goes on to fight Liger at the next PPV.

Winner - AJ Styles
Rating - ****1/4

-Overall, it wasn't one of their better shows but it was pretty entertaining.  I loved the main event and Sabu/Abyss and Rhino/Raven were fun matches as well.  Petey/Sabin were good as usual too.  I was a little dissappointed in the tag match and the fact that Aries/Strong was WAY too short.  But I liked this one though..........
