Title: Make your own Bret Hart DVD.......

dynamite kido - August 6, 2005 06:58 AM (GMT)
Just thought that since this seems to be a reality now, what would you want to see them do with it?

How many discs?

Matches?

Stories?

Extras?

Let's see what we can come up with......

Scrooge McSuck - August 6, 2005 06:33 PM (GMT)
Holy Damn... this would be challenging, to say the least. Obviously, there would be a 2-hour documentary (at least) on Bret Hart's career, because anything less would be a rip-off, plus WWE will probably spend 25% of it talking about the "Montreal Incident". Also, the less said about his WCW run, the better.

Matches:
Probably all of his title wins on 1 disc, if it's indeed a 3 disc set, although his 5 WWE World Titles would eat up a lot of time, so maybe cut loose his transitional reign from Final Four, and perhaps trim the fat with his Yoko match at WM X.

Disc 1 will probably feature the least amount of matches, so put on a few matches from early in his WWF career, prefferably 1 or 2 matches pre-Hart Foundation, and a couple others with Niehdart, maybe against the Bulldogs or Bees.

The Ladder Match with Shawn Michaels is probably a must. WWE probably has "rare stuff" from TV Tapings that were never used, but I won't go into that (hinting at the Tag Title Switch with the Rockers that "never happend").

I wouldn't oppose 1 WCW match from his career, but his run there was beyond horrible, and the only match I'd use was the one thats already on Benoits DVD.

dynamite kido - August 8, 2005 05:21 PM (GMT)
Matches:

vs. Owen - It would be sweet if they could put the Ironman that these two had I believe at MSG. GREAT match.....

vs. Flair - Since none of their matches were on TV/PPV they should seriously put as many as they can of these. I know Bret isn't the biggest fan of them.............but I thought most were good.

vs. Dynamite Kid - I've been wondering how much if any Stampede stuff will be on here. I'm pretty sure that Vince owns the Stampede library, but I could be wrong. Some of the Bret/Dynamite Stampede stuff is awesome.

vs. Michaels - I would agree with Scrooge here that the ladder match is a must. It's fairly rare (Well, it would be rare to anyone who isn't a tape collector or who rented/bought Coliseum video's on a regular basis.

vs. Booker T - It's a match that I heard Bret mention as the only good one he had in WCW besides the Benoit one. I don't know if it was ever recorded though.....

Scrooge McSuck - August 8, 2005 05:24 PM (GMT)
I neglected to say anything about Stampede, since I have no idea on who owns the rights to it. I guess, like the matches of Benoit from the japanese promotions, they could always pay for the rights to whoever does own it.

whitemilesdavis - August 8, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
WWE should buy the Wrestling with Shadows documentary and include it as a disc of it's own, with extras of course.

Funny that you said that, me and a buddy of mine watched it the other day and we both said the same thing. That's one HELL of a documentary.

Anyone here actually know if Vince owns the Stampede rights?

whitemilesdavis - August 8, 2005 06:28 PM (GMT)
The last I heard was a couple of years ago, and the answer was no. The buying spree he's been on though, who knows?

Real F'n Show - August 8, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)
Being realistic, I'd imagine there wouldn't be too much rare stuff on this, aside from maybe one or two Stampede matches and the Michaels ladder match that I could see WWE putting on it.

vs. Bulldog - Summerslam '92
vs. Michaels - Survivor Series '92
vs. Mr. Perfect - KOTR '93 (I prefer this to the Summerslam '91 match)
vs. Owen - WMX
vs. Owen - Summerslam '94
vs. Diesel - Survivor Series '95
vs. Austin - Survivor Series '96
vs. Austin - WM13
Canadian Stampede Tag
Montreal Screwjob
vs. Benoit - Owen Tribute

Plus aforementioned Stampede matches from early in his career. It'd be awesome if WWE included any of the rare matches (vs. Flair and vs. Owen, both Iron man matches, or his match against Steamboat at a houseshow that gets a lot of praise), but I just don't see them doing it. These matches, along with a probably lengthy documentary feature could probably fill up 3 discs.

Scrooge McSuck - August 8, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
I see them adding a couple of random matches from national TV, but I too believe most of the stuff will be from PPV events, but it's not too wrong to hope for the best. :)

So do I, and that means they need to throw on there those gems that are his matches from SNME with Dibiase.

Scrooge McSuck - August 8, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't mind the SNME match against Randy Savage from November 1987 either.

For sure. Was that one with a count out ending?

Scrooge McSuck - August 8, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
I thought it was a pinfall ending, but I haven't seen the match in quite a while.

That's more or less my list, with the exception of the Canadian Stampeded Tag.

dynamite kido - August 9, 2005 01:23 PM (GMT)
The Canadian Stampede 10 man should DEFINATELY get on there......that match is the shit.

D.A.V.E. - August 9, 2005 07:24 PM (GMT)
For the record, Bret owns the Stampede rights, but has given them to the WWE free of charge if they wanted them, but only for special uses - and I think the only time they used them was for the Benoit DVD - if there's any Stampede fotage on that - I know they planned to have them.

In case anyone's interested, the guys at PWInsider made a list of that they believe is everything the WWE has the rights to

Bastard Popups.
