What would you say? I'd guess it would probably come down to Kramer, Barney Fife, or Norm Peters from Cheers. I'd probably argue that Costanza was a better developed character than Kramer, but my vote would go to Barney anyway.

Art Carney's "Ed Norton" character in the Honeymooners probably my favorite "Sidekick" character, but Kramer is up there too. Also liked Mr. Roper's during the first couple of seasons of Threes Company. Gotta' love the camera mugging.

Was Fonzie a supporting character at first? If so, he's tough to beat. You lose 10 cool points if you disagree.

Wilson Wilson from Home Improvement, The ex-con from the Red Green Show, Cooter from the Dukes of Hazzard.

And yes, Fonzie started out as supporting, just like Urkel did
