Smooth. Real smooth.
...Like sandpaper.
And I'm not talking the smooth kind; the rough kind!

Will Cena be cooled off? August 1, 2005
Thanks to some help from special guest referee Chris Jericho, Carlito defeated WWE Champion John Cena on RAW in a non-title match last week. With the win, Carlito earned himself a rematch with Cena, but this time the WWE Championship will be on the line. RAW GM Eric Bischoff said it was the beginning of the end for Cena last week. Will Bischoff get his way and have a new WWE Champion crowned? Will it be Carlito facing Chris Jericho at SummerSlam instead of Cena? All of these questions will be answered Monday night on RAW.
Also, Mr. McMahon will have a major announcement during tonight's show.
Plus, last week Eugene made a shocking return to RAW and participated in the Angle Invitational. The lovable Superstar accomplished what no one had been able to do on either SmackDown! or RAW over the last year – he defeated Angle to win his Olympic Gold Medal. Now that he has conquered the Angle Invitational, the new Olympic Gold Medalist will be hosting the Eugene Invitational. Be sure to tune in to RAW for this one.
Leyla won immunity by winning the Hot Dog Eating Contest last week on RAW. As a result, she can not be voted out of the RAW Diva Search this coming week. But Kristal, Summer, Elisabeth, and Ashley are still vulnerable to the vote. Next week, the Diva hopefuls will participate in the Queen of the Mountain contest. Who will be the next contestant going home? Tune in to RAW next week to find out. |
Major announcement, eh? Lesnar?
Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 06:57 PM (GMT)
Keep dreaming... actually, I hope Brock is on Raw. Gives me another reason not to watch. Throwing Triple H back in the mix would be the proverbial nail in the coffin.

Your just still uppity that Lesner squashed your boy a few years back.....
Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
He squashed Kane? I'm not uppity, I just have a system. I either hate or like someone judging by the first time I saw them.

Vince announcing Lesnar coming back? Nonsense, I bet it's to announce the return of Spanky, which is a much bigger deal!
In all seriousness, I think he's going to announce a "non-sanctioned" match at Summerslam, pitting Edge against Matt Hardy.
Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 09:06 PM (GMT)
It it's not-sanctioned by WWE, why do non-sanctioned matches include a WWE Referee? LOGIC IN WRESTLING~!

That's why the referee would be none other than.... KAAAAANE!~
Perhaps they could give it a stipulation that if Hardy wins, he gets his job back.
Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
Then to swerve us, Edge wins, so as punishment he'll have to face...
You know the god damn joke, since you just did it.

But it never gets old, it never gets old.... okay, I'm bored, let's do something else.
I think Raw will be good tonight. I'm looking forward to watching it.
Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
You so stole that "it never gets old" joke from the Man Show when Adam Carola would be king and bobble something on a string for a midget to grab, and he kept screaming "it never gets old! it never gets old!" then ends with "I grow tired of this."

I was thinking more of he squashed Hogan................but Kane works too.
Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 09:34 PM (GMT)
Except he didn't squash Hogan. It was a fairly even match until both men went into No-Sell Mode, with Brock coming out on top.

Actually, I thought I was stealing it from Plague, but now I know where he got it from
Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
According to a teaser in the link to the topic on Inside Pulse, they hint something about the "Funny man" from duece bigelow. Nice surprise...

Now that's bull. He bloodied Hogan and walked off laughing with Hogan destroyed in the ring.
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
Let's see... the match lasted around 10:00, Hogan controlled half of the offense, and Lesnar actually sold for him. Doesn't sound like a squash to me. If you want a squash, look at what 'Taker did to DDP in 2001. Blech...
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
Tatanka in the Eugene Invitational... wooo!
<--Tatanka mark
S.T. Strickler - August 2, 2005 01:45 AM (GMT)
<-- Tatanka mark as well.. Looks to be a bit out of shape though.
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
So the surprise is Matt Hardy v. Edge for SSlam?
MATT~!!!
The Last Free Voice - August 2, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
See, THAT is what I meant. Stop with the run ins. That is the perfect way to move the angle along. Now there are two feuds I'm interested in on Raw. (Cena vs. Jericho being the other.)
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 02:26 AM (GMT)
This is shameless... it's 1996 all over again.
Tatanka!
Horrible Gimmicks Galore!
Mabel!
The Huckster Version 2!
This is lower than low...
S.T. Strickler - August 2, 2005 02:45 AM (GMT)
C'mon Scrooge, you know that you're enjoying it.
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 02:54 AM (GMT)
It was funny for a minute, but it dragged on and on like being stabbed to death with a plastic knife from KFC.
S.T. Strickler - August 2, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
No, not the Huckster 2k5 skit. I mean the one-night-only return of Tatanka.
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 03:06 AM (GMT)
Oh, that I enjoyed, since it was 3:00 and one night only. Michaels takes up way too much time every week.
Mad Dog - August 2, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
So give me a rundown of what happened tonight.
Real F'n Show - August 2, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
Good god Raw was brutal tonight. Here's a rundown just for you Mad Dog:
Jericho cut an average promo with Cena attacking and they had another pull apart that does nothing for me.
Eugene wrestled Tatanka with Kurt Angle doing a run-in while Eugene had Tatanka in the ankle lock. More boring shit that is building a match I do not want to see for Summerslam.
McMahon made an announcement which I thought was going to be regarding Brock but instead involved Matt Hardy returning and cutting a "shoot" promo on Edge and Lita. This is stale already.
Somewhere in here Val Venis and Rob Conway had a good match that the crowd could have cared less about. Conway looks like someone from the Village People with leather trunks and wristbands, it's bad.
A video of "Hulk Hogan" (HBK) being interviewed by Larry King played with Michaels making fun of Hogan, it then showed a bunch of Michaels clips and HBK superkicked Larry King.
Diva shit.
The exact same main event from last week, I didn't bother watching but I assume Cena pulled it off by beating the odds, etc.
Sucked big time.
Mad Dog - August 2, 2005 03:57 AM (GMT)
jamiegeist - August 2, 2005 05:46 AM (GMT)
If they haven't fucked it up yet, they will very soon, but HBK is probably gonna end up getting the face pop at Summerslam.
People are already tired of seeing Hogan, on VH1 and on RAW, HBK is being totally honest and ripping him for being the diva-bitch he is. The only way this thing gets good is if Hogan cuts a bitch of a "shoot" promo on HBK.
They should bring up Bret Hart. That'd rattle feathers on both sides.
dynamite kido - August 2, 2005 12:56 PM (GMT)
The HBK/Hogan skit last night made the show worth watching for me. That was some of the best stuff HBK's done in a while...........lets see how Hogan responds. He's going to need something big considering that HBK does seem like he's more face than Hogan at this point and I don't know if that's going to change a bunch before Summerslam either. Next week they're in Pittsburgh and I MAY be there (Waiting to find out if I have free box tix again), and I'll be curious on how the crowd will be for HBK/Hogan's face off.
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 01:14 PM (GMT)
How was that crap any good last night? It started off funny, but really, saying brother 500 times in 3 minutes is too much. The most Hogan has ever said brother in that span was around 15 times at one of the earlier Wrestlemanias. Maybe 4, when he cut that.... unusual promo on Andre.
whitemilesdavis - August 2, 2005 01:22 PM (GMT)
I actually found the show very enjoyable.
The HBK segment was the best thing on RAW in months.
I actually dug Big Show and Shelton as a tag-team.
Rob Schneider said "Don't be distracted by my boner."
When did Tatanka become a good worker? That was a nice little three minutes.
Ummm, I'm sure there was other stuff but that's all that's sticking out to me right now.

I couldn't agree more about the HBK segment. It was another step in the make Michaels the prick heel that he was so good at portraying.
Shelton and Big Show weren't bad as a team. They should put the tag belts on them for a short run..........you know...........to at least get the titles on the show.
Schneider did about 10 things that must have had the people in the trucks going apeshit about.
Tatanka was always solid.......
I swear the diva segment every week makes me feel like I just smoked about 12 pounds of weed.
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
Am I the only one who thought the HBK segment went on a bit too long? They could've easily trimmed at least a minute out of it (and the HBK video blowjob which happens every other month), because by the time HBK superkicked the dude, I was looking for the remote.
<---actually thought it was funny until it just turned into one of those "funny-still funny-not so funny-sucks" cycles where the segment ends way after it should've.
whitemilesdavis - August 2, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)
Let me see, you hate HBK and love Hogan...I wouldn't expect you to enjoy that segment.
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
Except I just said I was actually laughing at it until I noticed the whole thing clocked in longer than it had any right to be. The Larry Fling thing from 1996 was about 3:00 shorter, and 5 times funnier, because it actually had a point to it (as much as a point those segments had).
Scrooge McSuck - August 2, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
I hate doing two replies, but if Plagues does it, I think I can once.
My other gripe with the segment after watching it a few times, was it's incredibly hypocritical. It's like the pot calling the kettle ****EDITED****. Michaels is shooting how Hogan "Held down" talent, refused to job, and is over the hill. Well, what exactly did HBK do in 1995-97? He held talent down, refused to job, and now he's over the hill (at 40, he shouldn't even be called a sexy boy or heartbreak kid)
