Looks like a great tourney, and if I weren't on vacation at the time, I would have made the trip. Anyway, the winner was Krazy K, which I just don't understand. I've seen him several times, and despite all reports that he's a great guy, I just don't think he's very solid in the ring. Seems to be a Jeff Hardy desciple. From what I've heard there was some great action so I'll definitely be picking up the DVD as soon as it is available.

At least Moore is already getting work.

whitemilesdavis - August 1, 2005 01:50 PM (GMT)
Yeah, and he was in the finals with Krazy K.

Ewwwwww........

Oh come on, Shannon is good, but no final could have been great with Krazy K. Apprently there was a really nice match between Reyes and Caprice Coleman.

Shannon is alright. I can't say good though..........and Krazy K sucks......BAD.

whitemilesdavis - August 1, 2005 07:42 PM (GMT)
Shannon can be very good. I can't argue about K though. Sucks.

Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
So, can I come to the conclussion with all the choices for a tournament final, they chose one of the weakest?

whitemilesdavis - August 1, 2005 07:54 PM (GMT)
Moore doesn't surprise me at all, being that he was recently in WWE and is originally from NC. K on the other hand, yes, there were about 7 better options than him in the final.

Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
Special K sounds familiar... is he the guy who botched almost every spot he attempted in Jeff Hardys only match in ROH?

The Last Free Voice - August 1, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
Yep. That was Krazy K. Special K was the group of "ravers" that recently disbanded. I got mistook for one of them once.

Yep, and what a match that was. It's actually one of my favorites in the "train wreck" sort of way. Not only is the crowd shitting over everything Jeff Hardy does, but then you have this freaking little kid named Krazy K (who the announces put over as being a student of Hardy's, whom Hardy had wanted to "show off") botching more spots than Jeff "Master of botching spots" Hardy.

Then you have Joey Matthews in there trying his best to keep the heat on him, but to little avail.

Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
At least Matthews is employed and, until recently, was being pushed.

Yeah, Matthews is a solid worker who I'm glad got to work in WWE. I don't think the MNM push is over though, especially if they are going to be on the cover of the next issue of Smackdown magazine.

Scrooge McSuck - August 1, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
I hate to say this, but they're only being pushed because someone had the brain to tell McMahon to use them as a team.

dynamite kido - August 1, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
Matthews is barely a solid worker. He was terrible for years and stuck in "Indy mode" for most of it. He's acceptable now, but of course it took getting out of the indies for him to do it.

whitemilesdavis - August 2, 2005 12:13 AM (GMT)
You've got an Omega bias. Joey was really good in the indies for a lot of years. You've only seen him in ECW and ROH. In ECW he was used as a glorified jobber, and in ROH, well I'll admit he's not ROH's style, but that doesn't make him bad. He's always been better in a tag setting.

whitemilesdavis - August 2, 2005 03:14 PM (GMT)
I don't think Statmark would mind me plugging his blog here. He does a comprehensive write up today. (He is involved in the production end of CWF, though I don't know if he was involved with this event. He probably ran a camera.) Anyway, you should check it out. He's got some nice pics up, and some good thoughts.

I have no OMEGA bias. I never liked those guys until they were out of that setting. Joey was a shitty worker (although he did do his highspots early on) in the indies outside of OMEGA especially. OMEGA may be his best indy stuff that he's done.

whitemilesdavis - August 2, 2005 04:12 PM (GMT)
Here in NC, I saw York and Matthews on various indies all the time. They really put on some good matches a few years ago, and if yuo thought Matthews sucked, I'd hate to hear what you think about York...cause he did kinda suck.

Oh yeah, apparently I was misinformed about the great Reyes / Coleman match. It was Jerelle Clark and Coleman who had the good match.

dynamite kido - August 2, 2005 04:40 PM (GMT)
Well WMD, York was way worse. I have two friends that used to wrestle local indies and they both said that York is terrible. They said that Matthew's was alright to work with...........but York wasn't.

Statmark - August 2, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the plug Miles. Yeah, I did the usual camera duties with zero booking input on this one. That was mainly handled by Dale Gagne (AWA), Thomas Simpson (OMEGA), and Gemini Kid (CWF). Yeah, I would have much rather seen a different final involving any combo of Jerelle, Kazi, Xsiris, Reyes, Caprice, etc, etc but I think I pretty much hit all the points on the blog as to why certain things were done certain ways. Overall, even if you disagree with the final outcome, it was still a highly enjoyable 2-day event.

whitemilesdavis - August 2, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
When I saw the final, I knew it was gonna receive major hate from the net. I'm gonna pick it up regardless...I'll even give Krazy K another shot, although I'm not expecting much from him to be honest.
