Title: Devils Rejects
Description: See it.........now.

I checked out Rob Zombie's newest film "Devils Rejects" Friday night and I must say it's a great film that horror films MUST SEE. Extremely violent, and just balls to the wall as far as the plot is concerned. If anyone here liked his first effort "House of 1,000 Corpses", this one blows it away.......easily. Rejects isn't campy whatsoever and is more in the vein of a 70's exploitation flick than it is a "monster" movie such as House was. Sid Haig was great in the role of Captain Spalding again, Bill Moseley was awesome in the role of Otis, Sherri Moon Zombie was about 100 times less annoying this time around as Baby, and Dawn of the Dead veteran actor Ken Foree has a significant part in this as well (Zombie does know he's horror). It doesn't dissappoint and doesn't have a slow second.............I would recommend this one with my strongest effort.

Is this like a sequel to House of 1000 Corpses? Because I hated that one.

Yes, it's the sequel. But it's NOTHING at all like House of 1,000 Corpses. It's way better, more violent, and just a better made film.

It's in the vein of a 70's exploitation/horror flick..........great stuff. IMO, it's the horror genre movie of the year.........and you guys know how big of a George Romero fan I am.

You know, if they quoted YOU in the trailer instead of movie critics, I guarantee the movie would be a blockbuster.

Thanks for the complement............but I still doubt it.

I'll also be bold enough to say that Bill Moseley (aka Otis Driftwood) puts out an OSCAR worth performance. YES, Oscar worthy.............and that's not cause I'm a horror mark either.

I bet you 1 billion dollars that he doesn't even get nominated.

No shit. I was just stating that he's actually that good in this film.

You went a little overboard.

Have you seen the film? I still don't think I went overboard.

whitemilesdavis - August 3, 2005 06:39 PM (GMT)
No, but you tend to go a little crazy with the horror film love. It's one thing to be a fan, but to go all out and call the stuff high-art...just a little out there.

Who the hell is calling it high art. Most of it is schlock and crap. There are good horror films out there and one of them one an Oscar for BEST PICTURE. Some of it IS high art and most of that is European stuff that is made. How exactly do I go crazy with the horror film love? Everytime I recommend or mention a film it's a good one and I certainly have no problem telling anyone when a horror movie sucks. So I don't know if you're fucking with me or if you're being serious about it, but I don't really know where you're coming from here.

The first one...sorry.

Nah, I'm just not a real horror buff, and I get a kick out of how much you're into it.

dynamite kido - August 4, 2005 01:38 PM (GMT)
Actually I want to write and direct films for a living so that could have to do more with why I'm so into it. I have an interest in most films................I just tend to like horror. Plus, with having knowledge of making films and the technical aspects I'm sure I would see more of an "art" in it than your average person. I'm sure this would apply to you musically compared to someone like LFV or Scrooge (no offense guys).

Hmm. Interesting. You ever heard of Earl Owensby?

Yep. Gotta love Dogs of Hell. Cool flick..........

Why do you ask?

whitemilesdavis - August 4, 2005 02:23 PM (GMT)
Well, here (Shelby, NC) it was released as Rottweiler, but yeah that was a fun little flick. He is from, and still lives, here in my hometown. He's made dozens of movies, though most of them are SERIOUS camp. Still, some of them are cool in that kind of way, and a few a really good movies. It's really his story that is fascinating though. Just a guy who loved movies, decided to make them in his backyard, and in the process made millions. There's a very nice documentary on his life somewhere in my collection.

I would LOVE to see that documentary. There are a lot of filmmakers that are that way as well. That's why I'm actually such a mark for George Romero. His film career entails what I would only dream to do myself. He's a local filmmaker for the most part who made influential films that are regarded in the film community. He's done it without selling out and people legit WANT to work with him.

whitemilesdavis - August 4, 2005 05:13 PM (GMT)
I've got it on VHS. I'll see if I can find it and make you a copy. Very cool stuff on there. I guess his biggest accomplishment was his work on The Abyss which he got an Oscar for (one of the tecnical ones, advancement in film technique or some crap like that). Here is a breif bio on him you should check out:

Sweet. I'd be all for that. The way that the Abyss was done was incredible. I'm not a big fan of the film, but the set and whatnot is where the money is there. Not to mention that the way they did it made it consideribly cheaper.
