Title: Smackdown and Velocity spoilers....

Velocity

QUOTE
*Balls and Axl defeated the Shane Twins.

*Simon Dean beat local indy wrestler Mike Kruel(?) in a short match that featured Dean using the Curb Stomp.

*Frankie Kazarian beat Nunzio with a Fisherman's Suplex, and gets on the stick! Says his catchphrase and leaves. I was inexplicably seated next to the biggest Kazarian fan on the planet.

*Muhammad Hassan cut a promo and referred to the NY Post article.

*William Regal and Chris Benoit come out and proceed to rock the fucking house with the match of the night...tons of matwork, hardway juice from a headbutt, and even a Dragon Suplex. Benoit won with the Crossface.

Smackdown
QUOTE

*Eddy teases revealing Rey's secret, but his wife and kids intervene. This sets up a confrontation with Hardcore Holly and a match later in the night, which Eddy wins via hitting Holly's knee with a lead pipe and applying the Texas Cloverleaf for the tapout.

*Mexicools vs. London/Scotty/Funaki was a spotfest. Juvi looked to injure London on the 450 Splash, but London walked out under his own power after a while.

*Melina vs. Torrie in a Bra and Panties match set for GAB.

*MNM beat on Heidenreich until ANIMAL makes the save, and sets up MNM vs. Animal/Heidenreich for the tag titles at GAB.

*Hassan's "lawyer" comes out and says Hassan will not appear on Smackdown until after he beats Taker at the Bash. Taker comes in, chokslam, tombstone, Taker leaves. The beatdown took 30 seconds. The entrance and exit took five million years.

*Christian ambushed Booker T. before their match, threw him into the steps a bunch of times, then made the ref ring the bell and pinned him with the Unprettier. Rematch set for GAB.

*Rundown of the GAB card. Add to the above O.J. vs. Benoit for the U.S. title.

*JBL cuts a promo talking about Batista embarrassing him by costing him the meatch with Meanie last week. Points out that he beat everyone in the locker room as WWE Champ while Batista defended the belt three times in a row against the same guy. Promises to take the title from Batista, etc., etc.

*Batista beat Orlando Jordan after loads of interference from JBL. After the match, JBL lays out Batista and stands over him with the belt. The show will most likely end here.

*HHH's music hits, and they take turns beating on Batista until Cena comes in to a HUUUUGE pop, and the special main event is Batista/Cena vs. JBL/HHH. Lots of rest holds, HHH works in his "spaced out for five minutes after coming off the top and meeting boot" comedy spot. JBL throws water in his face to revive him, HHH gives the thumbs up sign and proceeds to do the Flair Flop. Cena ends up pinning JBL after an F-U.

WOW, fucking Animal and Heidenreich...........this shit gets weirder and weirder by the day.

Mad Dog - July 13, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
That sounds like a truely awful match.

SamoaRowe - July 13, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
Huh. The GAB card is forming along rather predictably, except for Animal coming in to be Heidenreich's partner. Glad to see they remember that they employ Paul London, maybe next they'll remember that he holds a title...

prof_plague - July 13, 2005 05:54 AM (GMT)
The show sounds alright. I hope it turns out as good as it sounds. (For me at least.) It's not Richards busting open JBL with a chair...

prof_plague - July 13, 2005 06:17 AM (GMT)
Side note: Gee, I wonder why they're keeping Hassan off the air. Do you think the WWE is going to "re-package" Hassan in the next couple of weeks?

Not a chance.

Regal vs. Benoit? Judging from the spoiler guy (mocking Undertakers million year entrance), it may be good afterall.

I was actually shocked reading that match was happening. Then again, I get shocked when WWE gives me matches that I actually WANT to see.

Scrooge McSuck - July 13, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
I'm shocked the Mexicools are fighting, but too bad London is teamed with the 2 biggest JTTS' on Smackdown. That's what happens when the Cruiserweight division is booked like crap.

Real F'n Show - July 13, 2005 11:08 PM (GMT)
Benoit/Regal got around 15 apparently. Set your tiVo's bitches.

Scrooge McSuck - July 13, 2005 11:41 PM (GMT)
I don't have Tivo, but I have no life, and that's good enough of an excuse to watch Velocity this week.

I'll be DVRing that for sure....

Golly...thanks to YOU guys, I watched Velocity this weekend. Nunzio's entrance music almost broke my streak-- I've been making an effort to live the rest of my natural life WITHOUT hearing another fucking Beastie Boys or Nirvana tune. His music sounded like "No Sleep 'til Brooklyn" and I was worried. I also thought Kazarian looked better than his TNA days.

Whoever the announcer was, I think he oversold the Benoit/Regal match, which hurt it a little bit. I was reminded of Bobby Heenan and Tony from Nitro yelling "WHAT A MATCH!" during a Mike Enos vs. Buff Bagwell tilt. Also, "both of these Superstars are Super-Tough!" WTF?! Ugh. The fans seemed to dig it, though...as alot of them gave a standing ovation after the match.

Immediately following it was the season finale of Justice League Unlimited, where Flash FINALLY broke the glass ceiling into the main event. Made up for almost 4 years of being held down by mis-booking, weak storylines and improper use.

So yeah, my Saturday night consisted of a Chubby's burrito, watching wrestling and cartoons. And folks wonder why I haven't gotten any tail in over 3 years.

Scrooge McSuck - July 17, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
I forgot who said the best match ever~! comment, but I'm guessing it was Steve Romero, since he oversells everything... not as much as that TNA Guy, Don West.

As for the "super-tough" one, that is kinda true. Regal can be one stiff fucker when he wants to be, and Benoit being trained in the dungeon and working in Japan in the land of stiffness makes him tough too.

jamiegeist - July 17, 2005 08:40 PM (GMT)
I believe Matthews screamed "Benoit wins this FIVE STAR match here on Velocity", which had to be fed to him by someone. Cause I at least give the guy credit to not put something like that out there when it was a FUCKIN VELOCITY match.

Scrooge McSuck - July 17, 2005 08:46 PM (GMT)
I don't think it was fed to him since commentary for Velocity and Smackdown is dubbed in after the taping, but he was probably told to put the match over. Calling a 5-star match is going too overboard though. Sure, it was a pretty good match despite the damn commercials, but 5-stars? Come on...

The Last Free Voice - July 17, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
I saw some of Velocity and was quite entertained. It was nice Seeing Frankie on there, and I've always thought he'd do better in the WWE's style CW division than in the X Division, so seeing him get his shot is a cool thing. Regal vs. Beniot was really good too.

eStragand - July 18, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
"Super-tough" sounds like something Hefty Smurf would use to describe lifitng the wheels on the SmurfWagon. If you were in public and someone asked you to describe an athlete, would you say "they are Super-tough"?!

Try it. "Roger Clemens is super-tough". Unless you're Tim McCarver that's just a Stupid Fucking Thing to Say.

Scrooge McSuck - July 18, 2005 12:36 PM (GMT)
Tim McCarver probably saying so many stupid things excludes him from being called stupid. Just saturday, he called Don Mattingly "Donnie Ballgame." I know I wasn't watching during his prime, but I could've sworn his nickname was "Donnie Baseball."
