Title: OAO Raw Discussion Thread: July
Real F'n Show - July 4, 2005 07:15 PM (GMT)
Tonight's show looks like shit with a 30 minute Hogan segment and probably an even longer "bikini bootcamp" segment. Ever notice how Chris Benoit determines if a show is watchable or not?
Scrooge McSuck - July 4, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
How do you know there's a Hogan 30 minute segment (WOO!) and a bikini bootcamp... oh wait, the latter was probably announced last week when Sgt. Slobber came out while the skanks danced* with fat ass Vis.
*-if you call dancing just standing around trying to act like a skank.
Mad Dog - July 4, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
Good thing I can watch the Twilight Zone marathon and ignore Raw this week.
whitemilesdavis - July 4, 2005 10:49 PM (GMT)
Not sure if I'll catch RAw or not with the 4th going on and all.
Scrooge McSuck - July 5, 2005 05:36 AM (GMT)
Been watching this taped... God Damn, is Raw bad. Kane/Show v. Edge/Snitsky and The Heart Throbs/Viscera have been the only matches, and we get Slaughters Boot Crap, which I have dubbed "Wild N' Crazy Sluts", because it resembles the obstacle courses from the Nickelodeon show "Wild & Crazy Kids", except the Kids have higher IQ's. Also seeing one of the skanks fall on her ass made me laugh (and everyone in the arena too).
Scrooge McSuck - July 5, 2005 06:23 AM (GMT)
Michaels/Hogan v. Carlito/Angle was an entertaining Main Event, but did Carlito have to do a pinfall job? DQ would've been fine.
I know I'm the only one who cares, but... Michaels turned heel on Hogan! SummerSlam! Hogan v. HBK! AH! AH! (throws money at DK) Hopefully you're getting it.
dynamite kido - July 5, 2005 01:07 PM (GMT)
I was actually surprised at the fact that they had Michaels go heel. Hopefully him being "reborn" doesn't stop the badass cocky prick heel that we all want to see out of him........or at least I do.
whitemilesdavis - July 5, 2005 01:41 PM (GMT)
I just hope it's not one of those "I had to know for myself" angles that Shawn loves to do.
The girl falling on the way out for the Diva search was glorious.
Oh yeah, and check out Da blog for my complete RAW thoughts, and tell me what you think.
Scrooge McSuck - July 5, 2005 01:46 PM (GMT)
Other than the main event (Which wasn't too bad), this was easily the worst Raw of 2005. Come on, Angle has to resort to using angles like "I want to have bestiality sex with Booker T's wife" and "he wants to make Hogans daughter 'tap out'"? Whatever happend to "I hate you, so I'm going to kick your ass"?
Real F'n Show - July 5, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
I totally didn't see the HBK turn coming, especially since he turned on a show that probably about half the regular audience watched due to July 4th. Can't say I don't prefer a heel HBK though.
Also the main event and Highlight Reel were very entertaining, and the Edge/Snitsky vs. Kane/Big Show match was alright until Big Show decided to completely no-sell his leg. Snitsky doing legwork is entertaining as hell for some reason.
SamoaRowe - July 5, 2005 07:06 PM (GMT)
IMO, the Jericho/Cena segment was gold. I would really like it if this built up going into Summerslam, though I imagine their big one on one match will take place on Raw the week of the Great American Bash.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 02:50 AM (GMT)
Ahem./.. MATT HA%RDY! HOLY SHTO@ UTFK (poasses out)
Big F'N Swigg - July 12, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
HARDY??????? WTF???????
Okay, what's going on?
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 03:14 AM (GMT)
Matt Hardy attacked Edge backstage while he was WALKING~! down some hall with Lita. Then after Kane/Edge, MAtt Hardy jumped him again, and all the officials and "Cops" handcuffed him for 5 minutes. Matt shouldn't be givena live microphone again, but apparently he said something about ROH and told WWE to kiss his ass.
dynamite kido - July 12, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
WORK WORK WORK WORK...............WORK WORK WORK WORK WOOOOOOORK.

Of course it is, but it's still freaking fun. Hardy did say "WWE can kiss my ass" and "I'm wrestling for Ring of Honor, ROH!"
I just think it's neat that ROH was acknowledged on WWE programming.
jamiegeist - July 12, 2005 08:44 AM (GMT)
Man, that RAW felt fun. The Hardy stuff had me going nuts, cause in the WALKING segment, I couldn't tell if it was him, and he was here, or if it was a lookalike, thus Edge/Lita fucking with us again. Him mumbling something about ROH into the mic was a sweet ass touch too.
Kane needs a real feud.
There are still no faces. Benjamin (made to look like jabroni ass Sting again - I mean, what face LETS their champion opponent get counted out intentionally), Cena (smattering of BOOs keeps increasing - but the cheers are too), and I guess Hardy now, and Kane.
Them putting Jericho into the WWE Title match makes me incredibly happy. They're letting him run with the ball the way he should be, as a heel. Don't know about the match (or any Cena match for that matter) but lets see if they can do better with the angle then the "you arent material" shit they always do.
The Diva Search is made bearable for me for one reason: Coach. He just fuckin cracks my shit up.
Nice to see them once again treating Summerslam like a big deal. Possible Card, RAW side?
HBK/Hogan
Cena/Jericho
Carlito/Benjamin
Edge/Hardy
No clue where that leaves Angle, as I would really rather Carlito feuds with someone else, and Benjamin/Angle have a killer "wrestling" feud with each other. Edge/Hardy should have some life for quite a while. I'm afraid guys like Kane, Show, etc. are just dead in the water.
Lastly, I like Chris Masters. I was totally missing his segments on my TV the last few weeks.
jamiegeist - July 12, 2005 09:31 AM (GMT)
Man I marked out tonight. Don't think I ever mentioned that. When Edge got jumped, I marked the fuck out.
Even my wife marked out. Thats like, her first official markout. She occasionally watches, and the Edge/Lita/Matt thing interests her more than anything. She is always "I can't beleive they're doin that to him" and shit. So when he attacked (I wasn't sure she even knew who Matt Hardy was) she was losing her mind too. She was convinced he even landed a few "real" punches in the pull-apart brawl. Yes, yes, my wife rules.
dynamite kido - July 12, 2005 01:14 PM (GMT)
Am I the only person not blinded by all of the bullshit? RAW was HORRIBLE yesterday to the point of it being unwatchable. I fucking HATE the whole Edge/Lita/Hardy thing. It's fucking terrible and of course will transform into more crash TV for the WWE to capitalize on. GRAND. Not to mention I'm fucking sick of Kane and his lack of direction, HBK isn't working for me as a heel, I could care less about Hogan or Piper, and the only two positives that I can think of about the show were Carlito getting the Honky Tonk Man treatment (which is a good thing) and the fact that a WWE creative team member reads DVDVR for ideas (the foot fetish deal).......
Fuck Matt Hardy for coming back, now I'm going to have to hear about this shit all summer.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 02:18 PM (GMT)
The Good on Raw:
- Tajiri carrying the walking luggage (Chris Masters) to a watchable match.
- Matt Hardy! WOOO!
The Bad on Raw:
- Please, stop giving Wigger Cena so much mic time. He sucks, and he's being exposed as nothing special. He was horrible in his promo last night, is always horrible in the ring, and is only over because he's acting black. Pre-Rapper Cena (a.k.a RUTHLESS AGGRESSION OMG20002!) was as over as an unnamed scrub on an old episode of Wrestling Challenge.
- Diva Search needs to stop now. That's all I'm saying on that.
- The point of doing so many "talk shows"? Did 5-6 people scheduled for Raw call in sick or something?
- Shawn Michaels still sucks, because his character is no different, other than being a coward.
- Retarded crowd. In the "Main Event Interview", the crowd can't decide wether to boo or cheer Michaels AND Hogan. Thats what happens when WWE goes to New Jersey.
Edit: If I offend anyone with my "Wigger" comment about cena, I'm sorry, but that's my honest opinion on the guy.
whitemilesdavis - July 12, 2005 02:22 PM (GMT)
In my opinion, there were three incredibly bright spots on the show, and the rest was pretty crappy.
1. Shelton and Carlito - That was a good match, and proves that there is a good time for a non-finish. It made we want more, and showed that given the right opponent, Carlito is capable of a good match.
2.Angle invitational - That was fun. Martel looked good. Sure, they bailed out a little late, but it was cool until then. This is gonna be a great way to introduce a new character some day. Is RAW gonna be in Chicago anytime soon?\
3. The Hardy return - I'm not even a Matt Hardy fan, but that angle was handled to perfection by all involved. I doubt they can sustain the excitement, but the first strike was great. By the way, didn't Matt look horrible?
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 02:27 PM (GMT)
Matt looked weird, which is why I questioned if it was him in the first attack. His hair seemed grown out more and his face is a little "fatter". Also, I thought for a second it was Sgt. Slaughter until I realized this guy had hair. :P
whitemilesdavis - July 12, 2005 02:32 PM (GMT)
And he is losing that hair fast. It's great as it all plays into his psycho character. The only slip was giving him a mic. You'd think if he were hijacking the show, they'd cut his mic off.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 02:38 PM (GMT)
You'd think if he were hijaking the show, they'd cut the camera away from him, like they do in football, baseball, and other sports. Still, other than those faults, it actually made me mark out like I did for Benoit at Wrestlemania XX.
OK, not THAT much, but the most since then.
whitemilesdavis - July 12, 2005 02:43 PM (GMT)
I'm fine with keeping the camera on him, and the fact that the announcers pretty much ignored him was a great touch.
dynamite kido - July 12, 2005 03:05 PM (GMT)
I think at this point I've lost all the respect I had for Matt.
whitemilesdavis - July 12, 2005 03:09 PM (GMT)
WHY???!!???
For drawing a paycheck?
For working the fans? AKA, the whole idea of wrestling.

No, because he's a total sellout. Working the fans is one thing, but worked shoots are the most fucking retarded thing in wrestling. THAT is NOT the idea of wrestling.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 04:02 PM (GMT)
If this entire thing was a work (I mean everything not from last night), I give WWE, Matt Hardy, Edge, Lita, Jesus, Ghandi, and everyone else credit for pulling off a GOOD swerve.

It's all supposed to be a worked shoot.
The Last Free Voice - July 12, 2005 04:19 PM (GMT)
I knew this was coming. (A friend told me he was backstage) but Raw was so bad I changed the channel and watched Hell's Kitchen instead. Allthough Jericho/Cena may be a decent little program, if Jericho is allowed to do his full out asshole heel stuff...
whitemilesdavis - July 12, 2005 04:23 PM (GMT)
Between HBK taking out Hogan, the terrorist attack on SD, and now Hardy returning on RAW, this has been the most exciting week of WWE television for me since the invasion.
dynamite kido - July 12, 2005 04:46 PM (GMT)
That's surprising...........since I fucking hate just about EVERYTHING they are doing right now.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 05:02 PM (GMT)
I only hated the Smackdown thing with Hassan/Undertaker, but it did generate interest and discussion, so it kinda counts.

Wait until it's "all sorted out this week". At least that's what a UPN offical was quoted as saying as they were being railed about airing the angle last week.

DK, I think this is the first time we've been on the same page in weeks. Other than the randomness of Hardy's appearance, I found RAW utterly boring. I watched the Homerun Derby for most of the two hours, and fast forwarded through over and hour and 15 minutes of RAW.
Also, If Matt Hardy is truly back with WWE, I've lost all respect for him.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 10:17 PM (GMT)
People lose respect for someone wanting to get a paycheck... what a country. I guess when I fucking badmouth Brock Lesnar for being an even bigger hypocrite, none of you can say shit if you have a problem with someone being fired and coming back.
Big F'N Swigg - July 12, 2005 10:20 PM (GMT)
It's not that he wants a paycheck, it's where he's going to get it from. If it were me, I'd never work for Vince again. I'd be motivated to work TNA and ROH and try to elevate them and put Vince out of business.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 10:23 PM (GMT)
I understand where you're coming from, but I'm only saying that so I can use my "if that's being a hypocrite, I don't want to hear shit when I insult Brock for being one" argument.
Big F'N Swigg - July 12, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
Gotcha. Not to mention that my argument only holds water IF he was actually fired.
