Title: So check this out
Description: had a blast playing Smackdown vs. Raw

Real F'n Show - June 29, 2005 01:51 AM (GMT)
I was playing Smackdown vs. Raw the other night, and had a war between Eddie and Rey in a Hell in a Cell match.

I was Eddie and played the dominating heel, and I had also changed some of his moveset to accomidate the new heel Eddie.

I tryed to have as close to a real match as you can in this game, dominating to start as the heel, but giving Rey some hope and brief comebacks before cutting him off. I focused on his back and neck and pretty much destroyed it in the first 8 minutes or so of the match, in which we didn't even leave the ring. I used mostly quick and submission grapples, saving my signature and power moves for the final stretch of the match. Every once in awhile Rey would try to sneak in a flash 'rana or pin, but I'd quickly kick out and destroy him again.

Around the eight and half minute mark he tried climbing to the top rope, and I knocked him off to the outside. By this time his head and upperbody are orange and only my head is yellow. I rake his face across the cell, drawing blood for the first time in the match. I then ram his head into the turnbuckle post and throw him back-first into the steel cell. I continue beating on him between the ring and the cell, before I decide it's time to go outside the cell.

I break the door down and wait outside the cell as Rey gets to his feet. His upper body is now light red while his head is complete red. I give him a suplex on the outside and then lock him in the Texas Cloverleaf (I replaced the Lasso with this) on the outside. I break it however, feeling the damage isn't done. I throw him into the barricade and then lift him up and slam him down across it, chest-first. An "Eddie Sucks!" chant then breaks out, which I acknowledge with a brief taunt, only to be nailed with a spinning heel kick from Rey! He goes to pick me up, but I counter with a low-blow, and he's out again.

I make my way over to the announce table, as Rey slowly follows. I pick up the steel chair and charge at him, only to be met with a dropkick! He then picks up the chair himself and starts beating me with it until it disappears. My upper body and arms are now in yellow and my head is orange. I fight back and eventually give him a vicious back suplex on the floor, before picking up the sledgehammer. I destroy him with it, and it's a wonder he's still moving.

I then climb onto the Spanish announce table and procede to give Rey a brainbuster right through the table! I then climb onto the other table and jump off with a frogsplash onto his helpless body! 1...2...but I let him up! I taunt some more, just to piss the fans off. I then quickly climb to the top of the cell and continue my taunting.

After what seems like ages, Rey eventually climbs to the top of the cell as well. We've now reached the 15 minute mark of the match and I'm having a blast. I suplex him on the top of the cell and lock in another Texas Cloverleaf. Once again, I don't force the tap out, and instead go to pick him up, but he elbows me in the gut and dropkicks me and I go flying off the cell!

Eddie is now completely orange from the waist up. I climb back up the cell and Rey hits me with a body scissors into a DDT on top of the cell and follows with a flying forearm and tries a spinning heel kick, but instead goes flying off the cell! Once again, I taunt, just to be a dick.

By now, I pretty much have the finish planned in my head, and wait for him to climb back up. Once he does, I quickly grab him and suplex him on the cell, denting the top. I follow with a brainbuster, and we both go crashing through the cell to the mat below! I pick Rey up and give him the MDK powerbomb! 1...2...and I let him up again! I climb to the top and deliver a perfect frogsplash! 1...2...and guess who let's up again. I start taunting, waiting for Rey to get up. He finally does, and I let him kick me in the gut, and he hits the 619! He follows with the West Coast Pop and he wins the match after 22 mintues of action.

I'll be damned if that wasn't one of the funnest times I've ever had playing video games...

I had a pretty exicting match like that, but for different reasons. In SD: Here Comes the Pain, I did a Last Man Standing Match between Chris Benoit and Kane. I can't remember much, but it was a brutal back and forth match, and it took like 6 consecutive top rope diving headbutts to keep down Kane. I think the match went somewhere around 25:00. Probably my best video game match not from the FirePro series.

For FirePro, I did an awesome 2/3 Falls match betwene Benoit and Guerrero. Fall #1 when to a 30 minute time limit, Guerrero pinned Benoit 4 minutes into the 2nd fall, and Guerrero pinned Benoit again to win 20 minutes into the 3rd fall.

Which FirePro do you use? I'm thinking about picking up FirePro D since I just got a Dreamcast but I can't find it cheap...

Scrooge McSuck - June 29, 2005 04:05 AM (GMT)
It was a ROM for SNES... Super Firo Pro Wrestling X Premium I think it was.

Hey Scrooge, I just tried playing the game you mentioned. I have a big problem here; it seems that everytime I engage in a grapple, I always come out on the losing end. Wanna help me here?

Scrooge McSuck - June 29, 2005 09:40 PM (GMT)
Yes... it's not a button masher. You have to make a move EXACTLY when you lock up. There's no lame back-n-forth like in the Super NES WWF Games.

How are you guys playing this? Emulator?

Scrooge McSuck - June 30, 2005 12:19 AM (GMT)
(slaps cheek) No, we plugged a toaster into the SNES and it magically gave us every Japanese game ever made. :P

Yes, an emulator. You find can that and the game at ROMNation.net.

Thanks for the link, btw.

Thanks for the help Scrooge. In a match between Vader and Rick Steiner, I got my share of offensive moves in, but I lost by countout in a match that lasted less than 5 minutes.

To get back in the ring, just walk up against apron... I think that's how it works. I love the 5 on 5 "Gauntlet" elimination matches, because damage carries over. 2 guys (Iforgot between who) had a grueling 15 minute match, then the winner lost in 50 seconds of the next match.

S.T. Strickler - June 30, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I know how to get back into the ring. It's just that we ended up having a brawl, and he unleashed a nasty German suplex on me, and he got back into the ring before the countout.

Scrooge McSuck - June 30, 2005 02:41 AM (GMT)
...But the count-out is 20 in this game. You couldn't beat that?!

Real F'n Show - June 30, 2005 03:05 AM (GMT)
AWESOME I got it working, the only problem is, I get to the versus screen where it says "Bush Any Button to Next" and I can't do anything. Any help?

Ok, let me put it this way.. He nailed two nasty German suplexes on me.

First, find the control panel where it says controls, then find out the proper button corispondance. For me, Buttonas A, S, Z, and X count as A, B, X, Y. Then alter the controls whichever way it's easier for you.

Sweet, I finally won a match, pinned Liger using Benoit with a powerbomb. Is there any way to get out of submissions easier though? I one match I did using Liger, Otani made me submit in like 28 seconds with a cross armbreaker because I couldn't get out of it.

Scrooge McSuck - June 30, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
Mash buttons like crazy... the deeper nad more tired you are in into the match, the longer the submission hold is applied, so just mash-mash-mash.
