This PPV has the potential to be PPV of the year if all of these matches deliver. Just think this show could be top to bottom ***+ matches.
Scrooge McSuck - June 22, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
No Jarrett makes me happy. :)
Scrooge McSuck - June 22, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
Whoops, it says Jarrett... my bad.
dynamite kido - July 12, 2005 07:39 PM (GMT)
This PPV certainly looks promising. I'll be ordering.....

Maybe except Ron Killings & Konnan vs. The Outlaw & Monty Brown :P
Sounds like a damn good show, too bad I won't be around to even think about ordering it (going camping soon for two whole weeks).

No way Raven vs. Abyss sniffs ***
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
I don't know, I'm sure some TNA fanboys will consider it **** based on the argument of it not being WWE.

I think it's possible.
Mad Dog - July 12, 2005 09:06 PM (GMT)
If Abyss can drag Jeff Hardy to watchable matches then he can definately get Raven over ***. Abyss is a miracle worker when it comes to getting watchable stuff out of opponents.
dynamite kido - July 12, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
Not to mention that I've seen Raven wrestle Waltman in his return match that was at least ***.
Scrooge McSuck - July 12, 2005 09:49 PM (GMT)
Oh come on, Abyss isn't THAT Good.
Abyss/Hardy was probably good because it was him throwing someone around for most of the match.
Raven/Waltman was probably good because Waltman is still a pretty good worker when motivated, and Raven isn't complete dogshit... yet.

Actually Raven is decent when motivated. He was just that when he wreslted Waltman on PPV. That's why the match was good, and Abyss is a lot better than you give him credit for being. You do like Kane you know......
Scrooge McSuck - July 13, 2005 12:34 AM (GMT)
I give Abyss credit, but you make him sound like the next fucking coming of Chris Benoit... oh wait, MD said that miracle comment. My bad.

Uh.......I wouldn't compare him with Benoit. Seriously though, I think he's one of the best big guys in wrestling.
Scrooge McSuck - July 13, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
And I've agreed on that statement. I just don't think of him as being good enough to carry a horrible wrestler to a good match. Jeff Hardy who was used as an example, can be good still when he's not botching everything. Raven when motivated can have a good hardcore match, but from most of 2003 through all last year, he was crap in the ring.

How much of recent Raven stuff have you seen. I'm talking 2005. He's been solid for months now, and with Abyss being spot on lately..........they should have a decent enough match.
Scrooge McSuck - July 13, 2005 12:48 AM (GMT)
Only stuff I've seen from Raven in 2005 were his occasional 1-2 minute squashes on Impact.

Scrooge McSuck - July 13, 2005 12:50 AM (GMT)
I don't get PPV, and haven't had PPV since September last year.

What the fuck? You move up to the mountains into a log cabin or somethin?
Scrooge McSuck - July 13, 2005 12:53 AM (GMT)
No, the price of cable is too expensive. To have PPV access, you need to pay something like $105 for cable a month, and it's just not worth it anymore.
Mad Dog - July 13, 2005 01:03 AM (GMT)
Of course Abyss isn't on Benoit levels of carry jobs but he's an extremely good at carrying guys. Look at his PPV matches. He's had some awful opponents and usually gets about ** out of them. He paces matches very well and builds them well. He's also very capable of making smaller guys look like world beaters with his layouts.
Raven's had an upswing since about March as far as workrate goes.
dynamite kido - July 17, 2005 07:11 PM (GMT)
For No Surrender I got you're hook up............PM me if you hear me
Big F'N Swigg - July 18, 2005 02:15 AM (GMT)
I swear there should be a Galactic Academy strip with Kido's character saying that.
Scrooge McSuck - July 18, 2005 01:00 PM (GMT)
He's the guy who smuggles suitcases filled with candy bars and jacks up the price to $3.50 for a milky way?

Some thoughts on last night's ppv.....
1. AMW vs. Shelley/Shane - I was pretty pumped for this match as it's a new matchup for AMW who's been VERY good over the last few months in their PPV efforts. These two teams matched up well and it came off really good. They did the usual slow southern style of the face getting worked over for the hot tag. Shelley's hybrid style didn't work too well against AMW but it didn't ruin the match or anything. Shane did well bumping for AMW and basically getting worked over for a bit in the match and did pretty good. I think it's safe to say that Shane has gotten a lot better of the last year or so compared to when he was the X division champion and teaming with Kazarian. I liked this match and they did it right with AMW barely pulling it out only to have Shane superkick Storm after the match was over.
Rating - ***
-They then showed some footage from the preshow of an interview with Jarrett talking about Black Wednesday (aka the last day that the WWE released a ton of guys) and basically said that TNA wrestlers are under fire because they could be released after the influx of former WWE talent. Good segment that was basically just to plug the fact that Rhino was there backstage and to setup what he would do on the PPV.
2. Sonjay Dutt vs. Shark Boy vs. Mikey Batts vs. Elix Skipper - I usually like when they throw a match like this on their cards but tonight I was pretty dissappointed with this match as a lot of it was a mess. Skipper attempted his rope walk into the hurricanranna only to botch it horribly and land on his head and fall to the floor. You know, I really try and like Skipper..........but he's wearing on me. The guy just struggles getting threw a match these days without killing someone or himself. But anyway...........
Batts didn't do much to impress either but didn't screw anything up royally and Dutt and Shark Boy did a decent job. Ok match in which Dutt won to qualify for the Super X cup.
Rating - *1/2
3. Apolo/Siaki vs. Simon Diamond/David Young - Simon came out and announced that his new protege is going to be David Young as he is going to be introducing "Diamonds in the Rough"................yeaaaaa! This match was pretty bad...........but it only lasted about 5 minutes. If only the WWE could understand that bad matches/segments are tolerable in short installments.
4. Samoa Joe vs. Chris Sabin - IMO, this was probably the match of the night and another really good showing from Joe. He basically dominated Sabin for a while and they played up Sabin using his speed and agility against Joe's submission style. Great commentary during this match as well that really put over both guys. Joe was impressive and they played up Sabin fighting back quite well.
Winner - Samoa Joe
Rating - ****
5. Team Canada (A-1/Roode/Eric Young) vs. Hoyt/The Naturals w/Jimmy Hart - First off Hoyt might be the most over guy in the company! The orlando crowd has taken well to him and he's done an exceptional job lately in TNA at getting over. This match was solid all around and they did some entertaining stuff to basically get Jimmy Hart out of there and it worked pretty well. They seemed to work well together and like I said, Hoyt is on a roll.
Winner - Team Canada
Rating - ***1/4
6. Killings/Konnan vs. Brown/Kip James (aka Billy Gunn aka The Outlaw) - Bad match overall. Not surprising, but they didn't keep it long so I can deal with it. "Kip James" juiced and the match was alright...........but I wouldn't watch it again.
Winners - Brown/James
Rating - 1/4*
7. AJ Styles vs. Sean Waltman - I was surprised that Waltman worked so hard, but I enjoyed this match a great deal. Different than the usual style that AJ works as the match was pretty stiff and they both were bleeding hardway. It was a nice change of pace for an AJ match and it was REALLY good.
Winner - AJ Styles
Rating - ***1/2
8. Christopher Daniels vs. Petey Williams - Really good match here as I would have expected it to be. Both guys were going in this one but my main complaint would be all of the intereference by A-1. It almost ruined the match a few times but it ended up being decent anyway.
Winner - Christopher Daniels
Rating - ***1/2
9. Abyss vs. Raven - This match was VERY solid and both guys were going at it tremendously. It came across like a hell of a fight and it accomplished what it should have for both guys. I was happy that they waited until after the match for Rhino to come down and he basically came down after Jarrett threw out a challenge and gored Raven to basically set that feud up.....
Winner - Raven
Rating - ***1/2

DK - Giving out stars like they were candy. (hands over $3.50 for my Milky Way) Bastard... (unwraps candy)
dynamite kido - July 19, 2005 02:54 PM (GMT)
I don't hand out stars...........they were actually earned.
Scrooge McSuck - July 19, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
I'm the exact opposite... I don't give anything higher than ** unless I'm watching a match with people I'm super-bias in favor for, since nothing really impresses me anymore. :(
Big F'N Swigg - July 19, 2005 05:18 PM (GMT)
Why does EVERY major heel have to align under Jarrett?
Scrooge McSuck - July 19, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
Are you shitting me? It's because either Jarrett thinks he actually draws, or he's mooching heat off someone who probably could.

Because he's the most important wrestler ever in the history of this business.
Big F'N Swigg - July 19, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
That was a rhetorical question. Which means I didn't NEED an answer
