Title: SharkBoy sues Miramax

It's been on all the news sites, and I just thought I'd bring it up here to see if any conversation starts. I've heard plenty about it, as I work in SharkBoy's "hometown" of Middletown, OH. It's been on the front page of the paper a few times.

Basically, SharkBoy is suing Miramax, Troublemaker Studios and anyone else who is profiting of off "The Adventures of Lavagirl and Sharkboy in 3-D," as he's had the trademark to the name "SharkBoy" for entertainment and sport purposes since 2000. Robert Rodriguez, the writer/director of the film, claims that his son made up the characters. The problem is that the "Sharkboy" character in the movie bears some likeness to Sharkboy the wrestler.

The real emotional moment in one of the articles comes when Sharkboy talks about his four year old son thinking his dad was going to be in a movie.

An attorney from Cincinnati doesn't think that Sharkboy's case will hold up, citing the differences between a pro wrestler and a superhero.

Shark Boy should get some money out of this... he's been Shark Boy for years, long before I was a smark. The movie is going to suck, so I hope he gets a lot.

If I was the judge, which would never happen because I'd be a horrible one, I'd give Shark Boy $100,000,000,000 5 seconds into the case. :P

I think Sharkboy has a decent case as the fans who have yet to see him will from now on think that his character is based off of the movie, and not something he's created himself. Not to mention that the two Sharkboy outfits have a lot in common.

It would be neat if Shark Boy got a WWE contract due to the controversy.

Maybe as a JTTS on Heat or Velocity, but Shark Boy will never be anything in WWE due to lack of size. See also: The Hurricane.

Wait... Hurricane, Shark Boy... new tag team! :P

I was just thinking that Hurricane, Rosey, and Shark Boy could be one hell of a cool stable :)

And they would still be jobbers, of course, I'm trying to be realistic.

This thing will never reach the judicial system. If they find out they are in the wrong and Shark Boy has a legit claim.......he'll get settlement money.

I immediately thought of how similar Shark Boy was to Shark Boy during the first preview. I think Shark Boy has a very good case because they didn't ask his permission for the character.

From what I've seen Miramax believes that they're not in any kind of trouble

Yeah. And then all he needs to do is to goose-step and they'll give him the WWE title!

Well, Miramax has become an embarassment shell of what they used to be, so I'd be delighted to see their overconfidence and arrogance finally catch up with them.
