Alright kids, I know it's only June, but which matches would you consider as nominations for match of the year? This can include any promotion - WWE, TNA, RoH, et cetera, and yes...Japan.

Undertaker vs. Randy Orton -- WrestleMania

Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels -- WrestleMania

Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Jericho -- Backlash

Gold Rush Tournament: Shelton Benjamin vs. Shawn Michaels -- Raw May 2

Gold Rush Tournament: Chris Benoit vs. Triple H -- Raw May 2

What are you thoughts on these matches and which other matches would you also consider as nominations?

Right now, I would say Angle / HBK is head and shoulders above any other US match.

Edge vs. Benoit from the Raw after Wrestlemania is the best match I've seen this year.

Money in the Bank and HBK/Angle both deserve considerations.

Haven't seen much puro this year yet.

Same goes for ROH, although I really liked Punk vs. Shelley from the 3YA weekend.

From TNA I've enjoyed the Styles/Daniels Ironman, as well as Styles vs. Abyss in the cage, although I probably wouldn't consider either a MOTYC.

Personally I think that Styles/Daniels ironman is probably better than Angle/HBK or at least damn close.

Also I'll give a nod to Kawada/Kojima from 2/16/05 as I that is my MOTY as of right now.

I've seen no Puro. I need to check out Styles/ Daniels if it is on par with that Angle/ HBK match. I seem to remember people being disappointed in it.

I really haven't seen much this year besides WWE (since it's the most affordable with my Best Buy discount and easily accessable).

I agree with RFS on that Edge/Benoit match from the night after Wrestlemania, it was awesome. I don't know if I would call it the best of the year, but at least one of the most memorable.

I'd probably go with the Royal Rumble match at this point as my match of the half year.

Kawada vs Kojima, AJPW 2/16, by a mile.

Since I've only seen WWE, I'm going to null my vote. None of the matches I've seen have screamed MOTY, although Edge/Benoit came pretty damn close, and I haven't seen Wrestlemania 21 yet, so I can't pick Money in the Bank or Captain Overrated vs. Lieutenant No Sell.

In regards to the Syles/Daniels Ironman, I thought the pacing was incredible, and the finish had me goin nuts. I would have to decide between that match, and Angle/HBK right now. Shelton/HBK was nice, but didn't quite get up there. It probably could, given sufficient time on PPV.

I can only really pick from the WWE from my point of view because I haven't seen anything else this year. Although, I really wanted to get the TNA PPV with Styles vs. Daniels.

Oh, by the way Plague... where's the London/Akio match from the TV Taping in Japan? That was pretty close to ****, and if a ** Edge/HBK match from Royal Rumble is nominated, why not that?

The Edge/Micahels street fight was pretty damn good as well.

It was probably a good match, but the only things I remember from that one is...

1. Kurt Angle running in and beating the crap out of Michaels.

2. Some security dude tackling a sign that said "Fuck the FCC".

Sorry, I took the cheap way and took only PPV and Gold Rush Matches, those were the only ones on my mind at the time. How could I forget about WWE in Tokyo?

Simple... it wasn't in Tokyo. It was some city with a weird name no one could pronounce, so they just said "outside of Tokyo."

I thought I might revive this thread for now. Does anybody have any thoughts now for what could be considered Match of the Year with what 2005 has given us so far.

Add anything you'd consider as a possible Match of the Year: WWE, RoH, Puro, etc.
