Title: If/When TNA gets on WGN/Spike
Description: what should they do on their first show?

Yes, I stole this, but it's a good conversation starter:
What should TNA do if/when they get a show on Spike/WGN?
I myself think a good way to start is by putting over some of the "homegrown" talent over the "ex-WWE" talent. This is a way to prevent the fans from thinking that the WWE is superior by default, a problem the NWO caused in WCW. What better way to make your company look like competition to Vince's baby than by having guys like Billy Gunn and Jeff Hardy beaten by guys like The Truth and Christopher Daniels.
Which leads me to my second idea: An X-Division title match. Daniels vs Hardy as the main event for the first hour. Show the marks a guy that they think is extreme, and have Daniels out work him.
Ease off of in-ring interviews and finish the show with an Abyss vs. AJ Styles match that you've pimped like it's Hogan-Andre.
What are some of your ideas?

1. Advertise. EVERYWHERE. Get people interested. Buy time on any network possible to air commercials during primetime shows people watch. Do anything to try and bring in people to watch.
2. Make it look like the fucking biggest show on earth. We don't want to see Cassidy O'Reilly or Shark Boy or anyone else who's a Jobber. Use EVERY NAME YOU HAVE! I don't care if the person sucks in the ring, use anyone that has name recognition.
3. Clean victories. NO FUCKING THE FANS! Put everyone over all the time.
4. No Swerving! WCW Died because of Vince Russos idiotic booking idea that everything should have a twist to it. Just book simply fucking shows.

I'd stay away from the "bury ex-WWE guys with OUR talent" method. I'd shy away from any connection to the WWE and try to develop your own unique product. They should attempt to snag the casual fan with some nifty hooks. I'd think that the casual fans wouldn't really care that some "ex-WW guy" is getting demolished by a big dude in a black vest and a facemask. But if it was some dork in grease paint, baggy pants and stringy hair getting demolished by a big dude in a black vest and a facemask...that might be neat. Put on wrestling, not the WWE brand of wrestling. Taking pot shots at the WWE only serves to ackowledge the competition and comes off as blatant jealousy. Similar to.... Vince Russo's Nitro tenure!
An occasional nod to WWE continuity would be okay. Like "The Outlaw was a 19 time WWE tag champ". One of the most annoying segments I ever saw was in ECW, circa 1995. "Jungle" Jim Steele had a match and afterwards, 911 and Paul E came out and hammered the guy. 911 did a buncha' chokeslams while Paul E got on the mic and dedicated each one to a WWF or WCW figure. Damn, that was stupid.
A cool feature that they should include would be their "tale of the tape" pre-match comparisons. They do it for their big PPV matches, but it'd be essential to introduce new viewers to the wrestlers.
Oh yes...I want to see Shark Boy.
..and no "lead analysts".

Rule #1 - NEVER, EVER mention the WWE by name on television.....unless it's to put over talent. Like this guy is a "Former WWE Champion" or something of that nature.
Rule #2 - Present it more like a sport. Even if it isn't. Don't lose the scoreboard thing like they had on FSN......that was actually a great idea.
Rule #3 - Regardless of how many exWWE guys you have on the roster, constantly put over all the "homegrown" talent.
Rule #4 - If you are taking pot shots at the WWE at all.........make it only stuff that the "smarts" would understand. Simply because they are the only ones that would care anyway and no need to go out of your way to look bush league.

The point is, though is to show the marks someone they're familiar with, and show them that TNA's homegrown talent is on the same level competitively. Not to bury WWE. Don't even mention that they're WWE. The fans would probably recognize them anyhow.

Yeah, I'm with ya, Swigg. I think we both want them to say "Abyss is beating Jeff Hardy", not "Abyss is beating former 23 time WWF tag team and former IC champ, Jeff Hardy"
I agree about the "fox box" scoreboard. That's a great idea. It closely resembles the FSN MLB scoreboard which is seen on roughly 75% of ALL baseball broadcasts, nowadays. Plus, it keeps the wrestlers NAME up on the screen, constantly. I've been to a few bars where the FSN late night re-run of Impact would creep onto one of their 129 screens, and the scoreboard worked well, I thought. I could see "oh, that's Monty Brown fighting David Young...I can move on now"

A Monty Brown/David Young match wouldn't last long enough for you to get out that sentence. :P

After a little thought, I don't think putting over the home talent is a great idea. I don't think anyone watching will be concerned about whether or not someone has been in WWE, as long as the viewer is entertained. Austin, Foley, and Taker were all previous WCW mid-carders, and had they been held down look at what would have been missed. I think it's obvious Truth could be a breakout star. Maybe Matt Hardy. I don't know, there's just so many people who have been released lately, adn I definitely think TNA should capitilize on that talent.

Anyone else have any ideas?
